The situation
A coach working with small business owners, with message templates of his own that we could test against.
What we did
- 1,390 connection requests to small business owners matching his ideal client.
- A head-to-head test: same audience, same sequence, same timing. Half received his templates, half received a message written for them.
- Every written message checked against his house rules before it went.
What happened
- 29% of requests accepted, giving him 407 new connections in his target market.
- Messages written per person drew replies from 13.6% of people, against 7.7% for his templates: 77% more replies from the same audience.
A reply is any reply after the first message, including “no thanks”. No figure here counts booked calls. How we count
